Parsnip
Parsnips are popular again today, having been supplanted by potatoes in our kitchens. Related to carrots, dill and parsley, the root vegetable, an umbelliferous plant, is reminiscent of parsley root in terms of taste, but is significantly milder and more aromatic.
Sativa’s parsnip breeding efforts focus on white-fleshed varieties for the processing industry. But Sativa also works in close cooperation with the association saat:gut e.V., which among other things successfully breeds carrots and parsnips, and carries out seed propagation for saat:gut.
This palatable winter vegetable has many uses in the kitchen, from savory dishes to cakes and desserts. Being nutritious and low in nitrate, parsnips are very important as baby food.
Do not give additional fertilizer and do not plant too far apart, otherwise the roots will become too large. Water adequately in midsummer. Slow germination, develops slowly. For professional growers, Sativa therefore strongly recommends primed pills for sewing parsnips for a much more even and faster emergence rate.
